由校团委主办，九游会平台团委承办的第八届励耘杯英语演讲比赛（暨第三届校大学生创意节演讲比赛）于11月16日晚7点于丽泽楼A106成功举行。

本次比赛共有来自10个J9九游会部，三个年级的12名选手参赛。担当赛事评委的有九游会平台副院长兼党总支书记谢庆立副教授，九游会平台副院长谢文婷副教授，九游会平台黄晓凌教授、何钟森副教授、李孚声副教授、外籍教师Dr. Matthew Conduct、Mr. Darren Mullins及Mr. Sean McHugh。另九游会平台团委书记张琢诗老师也受邀作为嘉宾出席。

本次比赛共分为两个环节，分别是以“What life will be like in 100 years？"为题的命题演讲和看图说话的即兴演讲。在第一个环节中，各选手展示了他们对100年后生活的奇妙构想。一方面，他们认为100年后的世界会变得越来越科技化，另一方面也表示了对资源环境问题的担忧💂🏽‍♀️。面对评委的问题，选手们有的略显紧张，有的则是从容淡定地表达了自己的观点。比赛的后半段，战况越加激烈，各晋级选手将他们的想象力发挥到了极致，用流利的英语向同学和老师们诠释了他们对照片的理解，比赛如火如荼地进行着🧘🏽。在等待结果的间隙，刘姝和Mr. Darren Mullins还为同学们带来了自己的拿手歌曲💁🏼‍♂️，趣味横生的互动游戏也适时地舒缓了场内的紧张气氛。在比赛接近尾声的时候，王晓凌教授，李孚声副教授及Dr. Matthew Conduct对选手们的表现做了点评🙋🏿‍♀️，并给出了几条提高英语水平的建议，Mr. Sean McHugh还向同学们介绍了公众演讲的技巧。在这一场无硝烟的战争中，各选手的表现相当出色💅，他们用行动和言语向现场观众展示了新时代大学生应有的风范。在一番激烈的角逐后，选手们的战果如下：

The eighth “Li Yun Cup” English Speaking Contest" was successfully held at 7:00 p.m. on November 16th in Room A106 of Li Ze building. Li Wenjia , who was a junior English major from SFL won the first prize and the award for best stage manner.

There were eight teachers from both home and abroad invited as the judges of this contest. They were Mr. Xie Qingli, Associate Professor, Vice Dean and Secretary of the Party General Branch, Ms. Xie Wenting, Associate Professor and Vice Dean, Professor Huang Xiaoling, Associate Professor He Zhongshen, Associate Professor Li Fusheng, Dr. Matthew Conduct👛💷，Mr. Darren Mullins and Mr. Sean McHugh. Ms. Zhang Zhuoshi, Secretary of the Youth League Branch of SFL was also invited as a guest to the contest.

There were 12 contestants from different schools participated in the contest. The contest consist of two rounds. In the first round, the contestants gave prepared speech on the topic "What life will be like in 100 years?". Some of them thought that at that time the human society would become a society which would rely heavily on the high technology. While others worried about the limited recourses and environmental problems. In the second round, each contestant chose a picture, on which he/she made an impromptu speech. The outstanding performance and originality of the contestants captured all the attentions. Indeed, it was the most exciting moment of the competition. After the speech, Liu shu and Mr. Darren Mullins sang some beautiful songs to the audience. The interesting games also helped to ease the tension caused by the fierce competition.

Finally, Professor Huang Xiaoling, Associate Professor Li Fusheng and Dr. Matthew Conduct and Mr. Sean McHugh made some helpful comments on the performance of the contestants. Sean even gave advice to the contestants on public speaking skills.
