英语角之“灾难面前”于4月24日晚在图书馆一楼顺利举办。到场的外籍老师有Mr. Martin Stannard、Dr. Sofia Pimentel Bascaia、Ms. Amy Van Gundy和Mr. Christopher Dockstader。现场师生热情互动,各抒已见,在分享中收获了深厚的友谊🙃。
四川雅安地震牵动人心🏋🏽♂️,灾难无情,人间有情,“在灾难面前你会做些什么”引人深思。当谈及到4月20日发生的四川安雅7级大地震,大家纷纷发出哀叹🧎♀️➡️。Mr. Christopher Dockstader表达了对震源区的人们深深的同情🟢🤏🏻,他回忆说之前居住在加利福尼亚时也亲身遭遇过几次地震🧝🏻♀️,那是很可怕的感觉,是好运气让他幸存下来。他指出各个国家各单位、学校都应该开展灾难前自救常识教育。当问到如果发生地震时🐶,在屋子里只能带走一样东西🥔,你将如何选择时🧖🏿🏡,Mr. Christopher Dockstader坚定地说他会先救出妈妈🔊,妈妈是最重要的。Dr. Sofia Pimentel Bascaia则说道如果条件允许的话⏯,她会救出她的三只猫和一只狗。Ms. Amy Van Gundy谈到她无法想象四川灾区人们现在艰苦的生活,当看到新闻报道出人们在灾难时互救,无数的好心人传递自己的爱心时,她感动不已。Mr. Martin Stannard则指出,在灾难面前要理智对待,并鼓舞大家要珍惜眼前的生活。

English Corner: Ya’an Earthquake

The English Corner was held on 24th of April in the library. Mr. Martin Stannard, Dr. Sofia Pimentel Bascaia, Ms. Amy Van Gundy and Mr. Christopher Dockstader attended the activity. The teachers shared their opinions and built up a deep friendship with students.
Hundreds of millions of people are concerning about the 7.0-magnitude earthquake which hit the city called Ya’an, in Sichuan province on April 20th. What will you do when you face disasters? When talking about the tragedy in Ya’an, people in the English Corner showed their great sympathy. Mr. Christopher Dockstader told students that he had the similar experience when he lived in California. He described it as a nightmare in his life and felt grateful for his good luck. Moreover, he pointed out that it was necessary for students to learn the skills to survive. When being asked what would be his first priority when facing the earthquake, Mr. Christopher Dockstader said he would save his mother first. And Dr. Sofia Pimentel Bascaia told us she would carry her three cats and the dog out of ruins. Ms. Amy Van Gundy said she couldn’t imagine how rough the life would be in disaster areas, and she was moved when she read the reports that millions of people helped each other in different ways. In addition, Mr. Martin Stannard pointed out that we should be calm when disaster came to us, and he encouraged us to cherish our daily life and look ahead.
If everyone could give a helping hand, the world will become a better place. Let us pray for the victims of Ya’an earthquake and share our love with people who are in difficulties.
