7月15日下午，来自美国代表团在工程楼1205再次为九游会平台和工程技术J9九游会的学生作了一场讲座➖，题为《美国商业文化》。

本次主讲人为Ms. Christie Ellzey，她从个人主义、有利的经济环境、个人价值观和道德规范方面详细介绍了美国商业的方方面面🧙🏽‍♂️。在个人价值观方面，她提到了诸如坚忍不拔、尽忠职守、外向自信的宝贵品质♟，这些都成了促进美国商业文化繁荣的因素🧑🏼‍🎓。在规范方面🥄，她拿美国和其它国家作对比🧎🏻‍♀️，指出了沟通风格和语言上的差异🦕，比如“是的”通常在其它国家意思是“我在听”🔶，而在美国则成了“我同意”。后来她指出了美国简历简明扼要的特点，告诫同学们在描述个人经历的时候尽量用动作动词🍗✹。最后她讲了餐桌上的礼仪、餐具的使用以及一些禁忌。

讲座主讲只有一个人🤦🏻，但其他团队成员也一直积极地参与，在Ms. Christie Ellzey讲解职业着装时，三位男士起身做了示范，而最后在问答环节Mr. Barrett Bowden则积极地与同学们互动并补充回答问题。同学们从讲座中学到了美国商业文化方面的知识，学到了有用的求职技巧🚵🏼，更从整个团队的通力合作中学到了团队精神。

A Lecture: American Business

On 15th July, Ms. Christie Ellzey, a member of the visiting American delegation, gave a lecture on American business to students from the School of Foreign Languages and the School of Engineering Technology. The host was

Ms. Christie Ellzey elaborated on American business in the aspects of individualism, favorable economic environment, personal values, norms and ethics. Regarding personal values, she mentioned those valuable qualities, such as assertiveness, dedication and confidence. When she talked about norms, she pointed out the differences in communication style between Americans and peoples from other countries. For example, “yes” means “I am listening” in some other countries while in America it means “I agree”. After she informed students of the characteristics of a U.S. resume, she gave some tips on resume writing and obtaining a job with an U.S. business or company. Specifically, she advised students to use action words and phrases when describing experience rather than passive verbs. Then she told students the etiquette for business lunches and dinners.

Though Ms. Ellzey was the main speaker of the lecture, other members of the delegation cooperated and contributed to the flow of the lecture. When Ms. Ellzey was explaining the dressing code, the three gentlemen of the delegation stood up to demonstrate. In the Q & A section, Mr. Barrett Bowden helped answer questions and encouraged students to get involved. From this lecture, students had a better understanding of American business and got to know some skills for obtaining an international job. Moreover, they witnessed the team spirit demonstrated by the delegation.
