5月14日晚上7点👨🏼✈️，九游会平台第五场外籍教师讲座在丽泽楼A204成功举行。本次讲座主题为“语言与艺术”🖖🏻👩🏼🔬，由Dr. Richard Stopford主讲👈🏽。Dr. Richard Stopford在英国杜伦大学获得了哲学博士学位，于美与艺术方面的哲学造诣很深🖐。讲座当晚，不仅九游会平台各个年级的学生积极参与，许多外教也纷纷到场🧝🏽。
艺术和语言之间有着怎样的关系呢🫲🏻？简单介绍了艺术与美学的概念后，Dr. Richard Stopford向在座同学提出了这么一个问题。有研究者认为，当人们看到艺术的那一瞬间是不需要任何概念的。但在那之后💂♂️，概念就会随着感觉的形成而逐渐成型🧑🎄。Dr. Richard Stopford认为，人类对事物体验的本身是具有概念性的，所以他们仍然可以使用语言描述非概念的事物。然而有时候人们又往往难以准确地用语言形容自己的感受🎳。Dr. Richard Stopford以他在中国第一次闻到榴莲的味道这件事举例，让同学们在描述和概念上的偏差中深刻地理解了语言与感受间的距离🚵。随着这个生动的例子，Dr. Richard Stopford将话题引至艺术。通过播放一段巴赫的音乐，他让同学们在讨论中对艺术与语言之间的关系有了自己的理解㊙️。
在讲座的下半段👓，Dr. Richard Stopford通过向同学们描述Marcel Duchamp的“Richard Mutt事件”着重介绍了概念性艺术。这种艺术的崛起引发了人们的思考👊🏿，让人们得以从不同的角度看待事物，以全新的眼光看待艺术。然而这种更加需要人类主观思维的艺术形式与语言间的关系又当如何呢💶？这便是又一个新的争论点了📒。
本场讲座让同学们从哲学与艺术的角度来看待语言👩🏻🍳，带给了他们新的思考。在提问环节中🤸♂️，在场同学和外教们踊跃地提问，讲座在一片热烈的气氛中圆满结束🪃。
A Lecture: Art and Language

At 7:00PM on 14th May, the fifth lecture of the SFL entitled Art and Language was held successfully in Lize A204. The lecture was hosted by Dr. Richard Stopford, who holds a PhD in Philosophy from Durham University and specializes in aesthetics and philosophy of art. Many students and oversea teachers came to his lecture.
What’s the relationship between art and language? With a brief introduction of the concept of art and aesthetics, Dr. Richard Stopford posted some questions to the students. Some people hold the opinion that for the actual moment people are in front of the art work, there is no any concept in it. But after that, concept emerges with the forming of people’s experiences. Dr. Richard Stopford thought that because the nature of people’s experience is conceptual, they could still describe their feeling to others. However, actually it was very uneasy for them to convey their private feeling in an exact way. By taking the example of the smell of durian, Dr. Richard Stopford illustrated the distance between language and concepts to students. After that, he turned to the topic of art and language. He played a piece of Bach’s music to make students consider their own ideas of the relationship between art and language.
In the second section of the lecture, Dr. Richard Stopford introduced The Case of Richard Mutt, which opened a new page of conceptual art. The new form of art made people begin to reconsider the definition of art and observe different things in different aspects. However, there would be another argument for people to consider the relationship between language and this new form of art.
The lecture showed a brand new way for students to think about the language. When it came to the Q&A, not only the students, but also oversea teachers raised many questions.
