11月24日晚上7点，在丽泽楼B204🏃‍♂️，九游会平台的第四场外教讲座如约到来。此次讲座主题十分新颖，粗语魅谈🏪。主讲人Mr. Jason Cullen获得比较文学学士学位和俄国语言文学学士学位🌲，在中欧学习的他英语语言学方面造诣颇深👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩，并获得硕士学位🦵🏽。他以渊博的学识和幽默的讲解吸引全场师生，获得满堂喝彩🖕🏻。

讲座开篇以十分生动通俗的例子阐释什么是粗语，场下皆笑，气氛活跃。粗语也有其存在来由，他列举了粗话的五点功能：一是伤害别人，二是团体表示团结一致的一种方式，三是加强语气，四是缓解压力与疼痛🤘🏼，最后一点是防止近亲通婚。Mr. Jason Cullen还向大家介绍了一些禁忌语言的由来，其中有宗教文化影响👰🏻‍♀️，有人们避而不谈的“性”的话题，有种族差异等等。不同语言都有相似的市民粗语，但又各富特点🧛🏿。Mr. Jason Cullen最后总结，语言变化非常之快🤌🏻，有些俗话粗语被大众所接受，有些仍旧受避讳，然而可以肯定的是💂‍♂️🕖，每天都有旧的淘汰🦗，新的出现♈️，在这个繁华世界🤦🏿‍♀️🤶🏻，市井粗语也有它独到之处😦。

讲座近尾声的提问环节，老师和学生都踊跃提问，问得精彩，答得漂亮。整场讲座举办十分成功。

A Lecture: Taboo Language

At 7 p.m. on November 24th, the fourth lecture entitledTaboo Languagewas successfully held in Lize B204. The teacher who hosted the lecture was Mr. Jason Cullen. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Comparative Literature and Russian Language & Literature, a Master’s Degree in Central Eurasian Studies, and a Master’s Degree in Applied English Linguistics. Thanks to his rich knowledge and humor, he made the lecture a great success.

Through Mr. Jason Cullen’s speech, students knew taboo language was any language forbidden in certain social situations. He explained it in a funny and realistic way. Then Mr. Jason Cullen picked five reasons for the society tolerating the rude words. There were aggression, group solidarity, intensifiers, pain relief and stress reduction, and avoiding inbreeding. What’s more, Mr. Jason Cullen introduced the origin of taboo language. Taboo language is from religion, sex and racial differences etc.. All cultures have taboo language, but not all cultures forbid the same things. In the end, Mr. Jason Cullen summarized that the languages change very fast. It’s not strange that the old expressions leave and the new ones come. Taboo language also has its unique function in modern life.

After the lecture students and teachers asked Mr. Jason Cullen many questions. All people enjoyed the excellent questions and wonderful answers. It was an unforgettable and successful lecture.
