English Corner: Food and “Couch Surfing”
By Angie
Tonight, Mr. Jeremy Jenkin and students had an enjoyable conversation.
The first topic was food. Jeremy told us that he had lived in Chongqing for a period of time. And the only word to describe Chongqing food was spicy. In his opinion, American and European were picky to food. He showed that he understood why Chinese people liked eating offal. He said, “There are so many perfect meats on the chicken, but why do you eat their feet or something inside?”
Then, Jeremy told us that there were many kinds of food in America, because people in America were many different countries . What’s more, if you wanted to travel in America, you only needed a gun and a car, and your friends would tell you some interesting places.
“Couch surfing” is a culture in America. Some students thought that was dangerous for the family. However, Jeremy thought that there were very few bad guys. “Couch surfing” would visit a family and shared his experience of travel around the world. After that, he would ask for accommodation. Usually, the host would say, “It’s ok, you''re my friend now.”
What’s more, Jeremy shared his experience of bicycling journey and barbecue. The atmosphere of the English Corner was perfect.
